Hubbardston mosquito control is now more essential than ever.

It is not so much that mosquito control is ever non-essential.  It’s just this West Nile finding is proof positive that we must be vigilant in protecting ourselves and our families from the threat of mosquito bites.  There are effective solutions available through reputable mosquito control companies.  The best mosquito control companies provide clients with options that best suit their needs.

Option one: Traditional Mosquito Control

What is meant by “traditional mosquito control?”  This protection solution often describes an EPA-registered pesticide, which not only kills mosquitoes on contact, but will continue working for up to three weeks.  This Hubbardston mosquito control formula is applied from the perimeter of your property, all the way to your home.  The encapsulated, time-released spray adheres to the vegetation to which it is applied.  This allows it to remain effective for about 21 days between sprays.  Families can get back out to their yards after about 30 minutes of drying time post-spray.

Option two: All-natural Mosquito Control

All-natural formulas virtually speak for themselves.  An all-natural mosquito control spray is a mixture of essential oils, which have proven effective in repelling mosquitoes.  Reputable companies offer this option for anyone, who might have reservations about having an EPA-registered chemical insecticide sprayed around their home.  Like the traditional mosquito control spray, the all-natural formula is micro-encapsulated to work beyond the initial application.  The difference is the required treatment frequency, which is recommended about every 14 days.

Option three: Special Event Mosquito Control

Keep your outdoor event protected, whether it is taking place in the springtime, summer, or fall!  Even if you are already on a regular professional mosquito control spray schedule, a special event could be cause for added protection.  Mosquito control companies will come to your home one or two days prior to your outdoor event, and perform a special spray to ensure that your guests are optimally protected from the threat of mosquito encounters.  This is especially important for events that take place in the evening, and ones that serve food and alcohol.

Runners, campers, and hikers beware.

With the recent finding of West Nile virus in Massachusetts, it is also important to remember to protect yourself outdoors when you are away from home.  Runners, campers, and hikers are often outdoors during prime mosquito bite times.  If you are outdoors at dusk for a run or a hike, or love sitting around a campfire in the evening, know that you could be a prime mosquito target.  That’s because female mosquitoes come out during dusk and dawn hours when it’s not so hot.  Be sure that you are protected with DEET or clothing treated with permethrin.
